  • Panthenol or Dexpanthenol

Panthenol and Dexpanthenol are two names commonly used for the same ingredient. Panthenol converts into Pantothenic Acid (a B Complex Vitamin) in the skin and enhances skin regeneration and repair. When applied regularly, it has been proven to considerably improve symptoms of skin irritation such as dryness, roughness, scaling and redness.

Panthenol/Dexpanthenol is also an effective moisturizer. It improves hydration in the outermost layers of the skin and helps to reduce transepidermal water loss.

  • Glycerin

Glycerin – sometimes spelt `Glycerine` and also known as Glycerol – is a humectant which means it helps attract water and keep it in the skin. It is a very effective moisturizer that smooths dry skin and gives it long-lasting moisturization and care. It is both colorless and odorless.

  • Bisabolol

Naturally occurring in chamomile and other plants, Bisabolol can also be derived synthetically. It has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used in skincare for many years.

FAQ

How often should I apply Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment?

You can apply Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment as often as you like to soothe and smooth areas of irritated or cracked skin. The handy 4ml, 7ml, 10ml and 45ml packs make it easy to pop in your bag and carry around with you wherever you go.

Can I use Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment to care for wounds?

Yes, but the product should not be applied to open, bleeding or wet wounds. Wait until new tissue has formed (the medical term for this is re-epithelialization) before applying the ointment. If you are in any way concerned about the time a wound is taking to heal, or think it may have become infected, consult your doctor for advice.

Once re-epithelialization has occurred, Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment creates a protective barrier to speed up skin regeneration and is clinically and dermatologically proven to repair dry, cracked or irritated skin.

Is Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment suitable for use on my baby’s skin?

Yes, the ointment is ideal for use on patches of dry skin on your baby’s face or in the diaper area. It only contains a few gentle but effective ingredients and is fragrance- and preservative-free so is suitable for your baby’s sensitive skin. You can find out more in How can I treat areas of very dry skin on my baby?

If your baby has Atopic Dermatitis (commonly known as Eczema) we recommend that you use products from the Eucerin AtopiControl range which have been specially formulated for atopic skin.

Can I use the ointment to care for skin with a minor burn?

Yes. Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment is ideal for use on superficial, first-degree burns and small areas of skin. It is a skincare product not a medical product but it is clinically proven to help repair irritated skin by accelerating skin regeneration. You can read more in what’s the best way to care for minor burns?

Do not use the ointment on open burns or burns that are bleeding. If you are in any doubt about the condition of your burn, consult your doctor.

If your skin has been stressed by the sun we recommend you try Eucerin After Sun Creme Gel Sensitive Relief which is more suitable for all-over body application.

Is Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment suitable for use on very dry skin all over my face and body?

Yes. Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment can be used anywhere on both your face and body as an SOS skincare treatment. Being an ointment, it is best suited to targeted areas of skin such as cracked hands or feet and minor grazes and burns.

If you have very dry and rough skin all over your body try Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Lotion 5% Urea or Eucerin UreaRepair PLUS Body Cream 5% Urea. For very dry and rough facial skin we recommend Eucerin Smoothing Face Cream 5% Urea.
